Hiloni Sutaria is an architect renowned for her innovative, sustainable designs as the founder of her firm, HSC Designs. Her journey into architecture was unconventional; initially envisioning a career in dentistry, her path changed after a conversation with her mother in twelfth grade. Despite struggling in art classes due to her whimsical, unconventional drawings, she enrolled on a whim and discovered her passion. College deepened her love for the discipline, blending creativity with problem-solving to enhance lives.
Her design philosophy integrates advanced technology, sustainability, client needs, and local materials to create aesthetically pleasing yet functional spaces. Inspired by Constructivist art, surrealism, science fiction, and global travel, her work balances aesthetic appeal with diverse cultural elements.
A key aspect of her approach includes zero-waste initiatives and repurposed materials to promote sustainable design. Balancing motherhood with her career, her daughter’s curiosity further enriches her creative process. Hiloni’s vision focuses on grassroots sustainability, aiming to expand her firm and inspire the next generation of architects through lectures on innovation and environmental responsibility.
