Emerge Renewables has marked a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing landscape with the successful furnace light-up of its new solar glass manufacturing facility at Keshwana Industrial Area, Kotputli-Behror, Rajasthan. The facility is being positioned as North India’s first dedicated solar glass manufacturing plant and is expected to strengthen the domestic solar module supply chain while reducing dependence on imports.

Backed by the 22-year legacy of Alstone Group and 14 years of experience in glass manufacturing through Emerge Glass, Emerge Renewables brings together established manufacturing expertise and advanced technology to produce solar glass designed to meet global quality standards.

The new facility has a production capacity of 300 tonnes per day (TPD), equivalent to approximately 2.5 GW per annum, and will manufacture high-performance solar glass in thicknesses ranging from 1.80 mm to 5.00 mm. The plant is expected to support India’s expanding solar industry by providing domestic access to solar glass and helping module manufacturers improve operational efficiency.

Located close to the rapidly growing renewable energy value chain in North India, the facility is expected to offer solar panel manufacturers advantages including shorter lead times, reduced inventory requirements, faster communication, and quicker problem resolution. According to the company, the project was completed in record time, with demand expected to remain strong amid a supply deficit of solar glass in the region.

The new solar glass facility is also expected to contribute to the long-term growth of Emerge Group, as the company advances its vision of becoming a diversified glass manufacturing enterprise in India. The group currently operates across multiple glass segments, with approximately 1,000 TPD of total glass melting capacity, including the production of sheet glass ranging from 1 mm to 10 mm in thickness, flint glass bottles, and colour glass bottles.

As part of its broader expansion strategy, Emerge Glass has also identified Ongal in Andhra Pradesh for geographical diversification to cater to the growing demand in South India. The company is further planning to move up the value chain by entering the cosmetic packaging segment.
