In a monumental achievement, India has unveiled the Surat Diamond Bourse, now officially recognized as the world’s largest office building, surpassing even the iconic Pentagon in the United States. This 15-story architectural marvel, boasting over 7.1 million square feet of floor space, stands as a testament to India’s growing prominence in the global business arena.

Located in the sprawling DREAM (Diamond Research and Mercantile) city, this magnificent complex comes with a staggering price tag of Rs 3,200 crore. Designed by the renowned Delhi-based architecture firm, Morphogenesis, which has also lent its creative touch to projects like the BSE Tower in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, and the Zydus Corporate Park in Ahmedabad, the Surat Diamond Bourse is set to redefine the diamond trading landscape.

Comprising nine towers, each with ground plus 15 floors, this remarkable hub will accommodate over 4,200 offices ranging from 300 square feet to a spacious 7,500 square feet. It is poised to become a bustling “one-stop destination” for the 65,000-strong diamond industry professionals, including cutters, polishers, and traders.

The Surat Diamond Bourse is not just about size; it also offers functionality and luxury. With its light-filled atriums, marble floors, and more than 4,700 office spaces, it seamlessly integrates work and craftsmanship, allowing small workshops for diamond cutting and polishing. Additionally, the facility boasts 131 elevators and a range of amenities, including dining, retail, wellness, and conference facilities.

After four years of construction, two of which were impacted by Covid-related delays, the project is set to welcome its first occupants in November. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a native of Gujarat, where the bourse is located, is expected to officially inaugurate this remarkable achievement later this year.
