About Fawaz Hashim
Fawaz Hashim is a Mechanical Engineering graduate (2012) who currently leads the technical team at Al Futtaim Element Materials Technology in Dubai, a member of the global Element Materials Technology group.
With over a decade of rigorous testing, inspection, and certification experience, Fawaz specialises in evaluating how building materials and products behave under fire conditions—not just in isolation, but as integral components of a complete building assembly. His extensive hands-on background allows him to conduct precise evaluations of complex building structures and provide well-founded engineering judgments.
He possesses a comprehensive, principles-based understanding of a wide range of international and national codes, including:
- NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
- UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice
- Saudi Building Code (SBC)
- Approved Document B (UK Building Regulations)
- National Construction Code (NCC)
This deep regulatory fluency allows him to combine strong technical expertise with a strategic approach, applying codes effectively across global aerospace, transportation, fire, oil & gas, and infrastructure sectors.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing industry standards, Fawaz is an Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE, UK). He also actively contributes to global safety frameworks through his participation in ASTM International’s E05 Committees on Fire Standards and the European Group of Organisations for Fire Testing, Inspection and Certification (EGOLF).
